My Aunt in Tulsa (9)
I arrived at my Aunt Lily's house an hour later in a poor side of town. All the house’s were older looking and runned down. I parked my truck in the driveway of my Aunts house and I looked at the house. It looked white with a blue trim but the paint was warm. I looked back to the streets from the sidewalk and I saw a gang of hoods walking towards me. Instead of running like I kept telling myself to stay and talk for a while.
When the finally walked up to me the circled around me. I quickly and quietly pulled out my blade from my back pocket.
“Looky what we got here” the oldest one said. I could tell they boozed
I looked at him while I was taking out a smoke and lighting it to make myself look tough he had dark hair and dark eyes well from what I could see it was still dark outside he had a tough build like Jaysons. I took a drag from my smoke and said in the toughest voice I could manage “ Back off punk”
“She’s a feisty one” said the smallest one
He had light colored hair and dark eyes he looked like Mad-dog a little.
“Where you from sweet heart” the oldest one asked.
“Salem Oregon hood territory” I said.
“Ohh this place will feel like home sweetie” he said.
I was about to say something but the front porch light lit up at my Aunt's house and a boy who looked about seventeen years old steps out of the door and comes up to save me.
“Hey leave the pretty miss alone” he said.
He has the same shade of blond that I have and the same evergreen eyes that I had.
“Hey man this your sister she looks just like you” said the youngest.
“No I don’t know who she is” keith said.
“Kid, your name is Keith Kasye am I right” he asked.
“Yeah why” he said.
“Your third on the toughest hood list” the oldest hood said.
“Hon you're from Oregon right, hood territory, right what was your ranking on the hood list” the same hood asked.
“Third” I said angrily.
“What's your name baby” he said
“Two-bit” I said.
“No your birth name and last name” he clarified
“Nick Kasye” I said quietly.
“Nick” keith said “what are you doing out the late”
“Coming here what does it look like” I yelled.
I walked to the front door behind Keith leaving the other hoods in the street behind us. The light was on and his mom herd us come in and ran up to me and gave me a big hug. “I forgot to warn you about the hoods, sorry Nic..” she started to say.
“My name is two-bit I don't go by nick anymore” I said.
“And it's fine it didn’t bother me about the hoods I can hold my own” I added as I put my switchblade back in my back pockets and the smoke pack back in my jacket pocket.
“I’m going to go get my stuff from my truck if that's okay” I said.
“Okay sweetie, Keith go help her” she said as I was walking out.
I heard footsteps trailing behind me following me to the truck. I packed up boots in his carryer and grabbed him and my backpack “can you grab the cat food and my skateboard and softball bag from the bed of the truck please” I asked him.
“Yeah they will be in the garage” he said.
“Thanks” I said and I walked back into the house where Aunt Lily showed me where I would be sleeping I put the backpack on my bed and the cat carrier on the floor next to the bed and went back to the truck to get my suitcase and took out the CD’s from the truck and put them in the glove box. When I opened the glove box there was a binder from Jayson Jayce Sal Hot-topic and Mad-dog and the other out of gang friends. It was pictures of the gang and the racking for the hoods on who was the most dangerous one was.
I grabbed the binder and my suitcase and walked back into the house after locking up my truck. I walked in the house closing the door and Keith came up and gave me a Hug.
“What was that for” I asked
“Me saying welcome, I have been asking to visit you in oregon. And I was going to ask again two weeks ago but my mom had to take a phone call then she said your name and when she got off the phone she said that you were coming to live with us, I was bouncing off the walls when I heard that” he said.
“You’ve grown since the last time I saw you” I said.
“Yeah so have you” he said.
“It was christmas six years ago I remember because I had just turned ten and you were about to turn twelve” I went on.
“I want you to promise me something all right” he said.
“Yeah what is it” I said
“stay away from the hoods alright you won't fit in okay” he said.
I nodded my head and gave him a real suspicious smile.
“When I have you meet my gang I will tell them to clean up there act and tell them not to pickpocket you” he went on.
“You pickpocket people” I asked.
“Yeah” he said.
“How good are you” I asked.
“Why would you care it's not like you go and pick pocket people it's not like you can teach me anything” he said.
I walked off grabbing his wallet out of his pocket and walked to bed and fell asleep. Keith walked In about an hour later saying “nick have you seen my wallet”.
I smailed and held it up and said “don’t underestimate a fellow hood got it”
“Wow your really good at pickpocketing wait a minute you're a hood” he asked and all I did was smile and pointed to a binder that my friends made me. “I am Two-bit Coca Cola the hood ranking is on the first page My name is highlighted in orange and my gang members are highlighted in yellow” I said.
“Wow Sal was tough and so was Jayce and Jayson well Jayson was not so much compared to you and Hot-topic and Mad-d0g are on this list to was this some type of organized gang because you're lucky that you have all the tough people here it's rare to have this many people from your gang on this list” he freaked out.
“This wasn’t an organized gang and that is everyone from my gang they were just friends the only family I had” I said.
“What” he asked “you had parents”
“I did but they didn’t care about me” I said.
“Wait you have bruises on your face was that from tonight” he asked.
“No they aren't they are from fighting at school someone was picking on my friend” I explained.
“Now leave me alone I am going to attempt to sleep again” I said.
That was what the rest of the night was like for me, sleeping. I slept until noon when Keith came in and Jumped on the bed telling me that it was time to get out of bed.
